Helping you stay compliant
Our Health and Safety qualifications have been created to assist businesses in complying with legal requirements by demonstrating that staff members have been trained in preventative approaches to hazards and in promoting a positive health and safety culture. They are also designed to ensure that all employees are aware of their own responsibilities and how they contribute to the effective maintenance of health and safety policies.
Through the achievement of one of our health and safety qualifications, employees will develop the appropriate knowledge and attitude to contribute to an organisation’s continued compliance.
Health & Safety courses
The Highfield Level 1 Award in Health and Safety has been developed to ensure that employees are equipped with a basic knowledge of health and safety in their workplace, including the duties under UK health and safety legislation.
These qualifications require no former knowledge of Health and Safety and are therefore ideal as part of a company health and safety induction programme, but it could also form part of ongoing refresher training designed to improve the health and safety culture in a workplace.
These qualifications suit a diverse group of individuals ranging from those working in large multinationals to those working in small businesses.
This Ofqual approved qualification has been developed specifically for insertion into the Qualifications and Credit Framework with full support from Proskills. It is therefore fully compliant with industry and regulatory standards as well as being recognized by the Health and Safety Executive, auditors and other enforcement officers.
The qualification aims to provide candidates with knowledge of the basic health and safety practices essential in the workplace. This includes the hazards and risks along with the relevant legislation, and ensures awareness of cost-effective, practical control methods.
Applicable for any private or public sector working environment and provides employees with an awareness of their safety, as well as the safety of customers, contractors and members of the public.
Manual handling injuries are the main cause of lost working days in the UK. These occur due to sprains and strains resulting from the incorrect lifting and movement of objects.
In accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act (1974) and subsequent regulations, it is the responsibility of all employers to provide employees with sufficient information and training on manual handling.
Employees can gain a manual handling qualification through Seaton Training to ensure compliance with the regulations and to minimise the costs incurred from work-related lifting injuries.
The Manual Handling Operations Regulations do not set weight limits for lifting and carrying loads. Amendments in 2002 now require employees to have adequate knowledge or training to make assessments to judge whether safe moving is possible.
The qualification provides an effective means of ensuring that employees are aware of their responsibilities and understand the principles of the safe moving and lifting of loads.
This qualification includes:
- The reasons for safe moving and handling
- The importance of risk assessment
- The principles of safe manual handling
- The safe application of manual handling skills
