Description
This course is for anyone aged 18 or over that is: required to undertake the role of the Lookout and provide a warning to others working in the railway environment that a train is approaching or undertake the role of the Site Warden and warn individuals when they stray towards the safe working limits which the COSS/SWL has set as part of the safe system.

Course Prerequisites
- Be aged 18 years or over
- Currently hold a valid PTS competence (candidate must be out of learning support)
- Candidates must hold a valid Medical and Drugs and Alcohol certificate issued by Network Rail
- Candidates must have a good command of the English language
- Candidates must be primary sponsored
Course Outcome
On successful completion of the Lookout course delegates will be able to carry out the duties of the Lookout/Site Warden. Sentinel will be notified of successful completion and the candidates’ sentinel card will be updated. The competence is initially valid for 1 year under a probationary period, once candidates have completed the probationary period, the competence will then be valid for 2 years. To recertify, candidates must have undertaken a minimum of four shifts and undertook a minimum of two line manager reviews – they will need to be recorded in the work experience book issued by Seaton Rail.
